When a letter has multiple pieces, which 99% of the invitations we create have, it’ll end up being between one and two ounces. When a letter is one ounce or under, they require a “forever” stamp which is $.55 each. Typically, save the dates (because they usually only have one cardstock piece) are under one ounce. Generally, wedding invitations are either less than an ounce or more than an ounce. The amount of postage the letter would require is dependent on a few small things: weight, size, and thickness. There’s nothing more annoying than buying 300 stamps to find out you bought the wrong ones. First things first, to be 100% sure your postage is correct we recommend that you take your invitation sample to the post office and they’ll tell you which stamps to buy. The key is to remember that there should be an extra space allowance inside the envelope for possible inserts and for easy pick-out. The function of the envelopes with respect to their sizes is not limited to the applications listed above. These are commonly used for greeting cards, invitations, photographs, small booklets, and a lot more.
