![]() ![]() Swamp Master Kennen is kind of an obvious reference to Yoda aswell, the looks plus the name seems to be refering when Yoda was on Dagobah. Chosen Yi and Forsaken Jayce, respectively referencing a Jedi and a Sith. Which one is your favorite? I think I’m gonna have to go with Risen Fiddlesticks. As most of you may know we have some skins in LoL that are references to the Star Wars franchise. The work that’s being put into the art is monumental compared to some of the old splashes I’ve been looking at. Everything from the details to the settings to the actual characterizations of the champions is on point for these. Overall, I’m super happy with the way these new splashes look. So he’s super buff, red, angry, and ready to kill some dudes. There’s some kind of portal into space behind him (?) with what looks like the moon but could also be the Death Star, just sayin. He’s definitely not looking for a better tomorrow with this one. It’s evil Sith Jayce, hooray! Here he is, smacking some dudes with his hammer because that’s what evil people do. Not because it’s not a great piece of art, but just because the skin itself is pretty boring to me. I really do hope this is the path that the artists continue on! Forsaken JayceĪs I’m sure you folks could have guessed, I’m not as big of a fan of Jayce’s art as I am of the other three. The art is incredible, and it gives a glimpse into the skin and the new character of the champion within that skin. I like that the theme is very clearly displayed rather than just placing a themed skin into a boring and irrelevant environment. I can’t really tell what the setting is, but the focus of this one is more on Ziggs’ action in the art, and not so much on his outfit or his bombs. He’s also somehow discovered how to keep candles lit without wicks which is pretty cool. ![]() It looks like he’s discovered some incredible new arcane magics and is rushing to write them down. He’s either too absorbed in his work to realize that the pages of his book are burning away, or he knows and just doesn’t give a shit. That expression is so entirely Ziggs and I love it. ![]() Again, the focus is directly on the character and the theme of the skin. That’s how these things work, right? Master Arcanist ZiggsĪnother awesome splash. He’s an immortal being whose mind drifts through time and is tortured by his inability to change the past. I love this switch in characterization for Zilean, and it actually runs well with his current lore. The bombs surrounding him are out of focus, which is kind of unfortunate, because I wish I could see the designs on them (they didn’t overly impress me in-game). His clock is bright with the light of the moon, and his horns and hands are glowing with red energy. The colors are deep and subdued, and the way the light hits brings the focus right to his mask and those really cool looking pauldrons. It’s like he’s looking down on you as you try to run away with 100hp and a bomb ticking on your back. The way he’s placed in the perspective of the art immediately puts him above the viewer. I’m really happy with this one as well it strays away from Zilean just being an old dude with a clock to making him look insanely powerful and more than a little demonic. Nevertheless, this splash is incredible, and it’s everything I could have wanted for this skin. The landscape surrounding him is jagged and massive imagine if you had to run away from him in this big enclosed space, surrounded by swarming, buzzing scarab beetles. It looks a bit hard to hold his sickle though (and you can definitely tell that it’s a sickle in this splash, and not a scythe). The sharpness of all of this metal armor and his claws adds to the intimidation factor as well. His mummified arms are crossed over his chest, and his hands (he actually has hands now!) look contorted like he’s in pain. Look how terrifying this is, I’m so happy! Fiddlesticks seems to be screaming, and his “teeth” are melting into sand. If you read my post on Fiddle’s splash arts for his other skins, you know how annoyed I was with their lack of spookiness. Let’s start our post off with Risen Fiddlesticks! Risen Fiddlesticks Riot Games has seriously stepped up their splash game. If you haven’t seen these new splash arts yet, you’re in for a treat. ![]()
